We The People Scroll

This week, we’ve watched the total collapse of another elite American institution. Add Ivy League universities to the growing list of once-esteemed public and private sector enterprises — the FBI and Department of Justice, the CIA, and the Pentagon, the free press, Wall Street, Big Tech, the Democratic and Republican parties, among many more — that have betrayed their missions and the trust of the American public.

Since Hamas massacred 1200 people in Israel October 7, pro-Palestinian protests have erupted at college campuses across the country. Reportedly, the mobs are made up of radical leftists as well as privileged Arab and Muslims, typically connected to the leadership of anti-American regimes, who have been granted student visas in order to fulfill the schools’ Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion quotas. In some instances, the protestors’ vile antisemitic chants — e.g., “we want Jewish genocide” — have turned to physical intimidation of Jewish students and even violence.

Recently, the presidents of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Pennsylvania, and Harvard University, historically America’s most prestigious institutions of higher learning, were called to testify before a congressional committee to shed some light on how U.S. campuses have become a hotbed of anti-Jewish hate. When New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik asked if they would denounce the protestors’ calls for genocide of the Jews, all three presidents equivocated. It depends, they said, on the context.

The university heads were not being asked to ban speech, or throw provocateurs in jail, or even out of school. House members just wanted to know where they stood — and now we know where they stand. They’re either cowards or complicit. And now we also have a better grasp of why the U.S. ruling class is morally corrupt: Elite U.S. educational institutions are in the business of producing vile and corrupt elites that end up staffing top private and public sector organizations.

But here’s the good news: Some of the universities are already being held accountable. The President of U Penn, Liz Magill, was forced to resign her post. Harvard President Claudine Gay finds herself embroiled in another controversy as well, as accusations of plagiarism dog her academic publishing record. One Harvard donor, Wall Street titan Bill Ackman, has publicly campaigned on X (formerly Twitter) to convince other donors, Jewish and non-Jewish, to withdraw their money from Harvard and other universities.

We might lament that it took so long for people with the power to change things to recognize that things needed to change. But our fight to restore America and preserve our freedoms is a long one. And this constitutes a big victory — thanks in no small part to all of us. Linking hands with your family, friends, and neighbors, you held the line. This win belongs to all of us fighting for America.

Please participate in our Reader’s Survey. Your insights and thoughts are important as we learn what is on the minds and in the hearts of our fellow Americans. We read them all and share some of them Mondays at 9 a.m. during America’s Future live broadcasts with our Executive Director Mary O’Neill on America’s Mondays With Mary. Thank You!

America Patriots - Richard Grenell

Richard Grenell served as U.S. Ambassador to Germany in the Donald Trump administration and was later named acting Director of National Intelligence. At that post, he declassified several important documents related to Russiagate, including a list of thirty-nine Barack Obama officials who spied on Trump’s incoming national security advisor, Gen. Michael Flynn. He was also President Trump’s special envoy for Serbia and Kosovo peace negotiations, where he crossed paths with Jack Smith, then a prosecutor who would become the special counsel the Joe Biden administration weaponized to interfere in the 2024 election through a lawfare campaign targeting the Republican frontrunner.

You were a major part of Donald Trump’s foreign policy successes. How does the current administration’s foreign policy compare to Trump’s?

The opposite of America First is consensus with the UN or Europeans. Joe Biden is more concerned about pleasing the Europeans and having the UN applaud him than he is with putting America first. In fact, he mocks those people who want to put America First. The Trump Administration had crippling economic sanctions on Vladimir Putin’s Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline into Europe. We were able to keep the Russian pipeline inoperable. But Joe Biden caved to German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s request to drop the sanctions. Biden wanted to please the German Chancellor so much that he put her interests ahead of what was best for Americans. I can argue that Joe Biden’s acquiescence to the Germans is the reason we have a war in Ukraine.

As Trump’s envoy for Serbia and Kosovo peace negotiations, you have excellent insight into the character of special counsel Jack Smith, who, as a prosecutor in the Hague, had the president of Kosovo arrested on spurious charges. What does this say about the man investigating a former U.S. president?

Jack Smith has demonstrated that he is willing to do anything, including manipulating the rule of law, to indict his political opponents and put them in jail. What Smith did to Kosovo President Hashim Thaci was purely political. It was designed to ruin President Trump’s negotiations to normalize relations between Kosovo and Serbia. Jack Smith was in charge of investigating war crimes from the Kosovo-Serbia war and he was not about to let President Trump solve many of the problems that he wanted to keep talking about.

Do you think the lawfare campaigns against the 2024 GOP frontrunner are failing?

The lawfare attacks against President Trump are so obviously political manipulations of the rule of law. Joe Biden and the Democrats have overreached. They’ve shown their true colors and have made clear they are willing to weaponize government against their political opponents in order to stay in power.

What are some of the projects you’re involved in now?

I work in the private sector now. But I am always willing to help President Trump with anything he needs.

What is your prayer for America?

I pray that people wake up to what is happening to the United States. I pray that eyes will be opened.

SCOTUS Grants Petition to Hear J6 Case
America’s Future Files Sole Amicus Brief
scotus-decision

Yesterday (Dec. 13, 2023), the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) agreed to hear Fischer v United States, Dkt. No. 23-5572 – a case involving the federal prosecution of a January 6 protester. America’s Future is proud to have filed the sole Amicus brief in the case in the pursuit of justice for Mr. Fischer, defendant-appellant.

Of all the glaring January 6 examples of a Department of Justice (DOJ) gone rogue, charging Mr. Fischer and hundreds of others, including former President Donald Trump, with violating an obscure provision of Congress’ anti-document shredding law, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, 18 U.S.C. §1512 (c) underscores the dire need for the SCOTUS to examine and rein in a fundamentally corrupt and weaponized DOJ for the sake of protecting our First Amendment rights to speech, assembly, and our right to petition our government for a redress of grievances.

Mr. Fischer’s Petition to the SCOTUS for a writ of Certiorari raises questions as to whether the DOJ, under the color of law, is abusing its discretion by charging January 6 defendants with an Enron-era law prohibiting document shredding and other forms of “evidence-impairment in connection with, among other things, ‘a proceeding before the Congress’.”

At the district court level, D.C. Judge Carl Nichols granted Mr. Fischer’s motion to dismiss the 1512(c) count. According to Mr. Fischer’s SCOTUS petition for a writ of Certiorari, Judge Nichols dismissed this count “based on [the statutory] language, structure, history, and the relevant interpretive cannons. At the outset, [Judge Nichols] emphasized that the court must exercise restraint in assessing the reach of a criminal statute.”

Why would the DOJ add a count arising out of a corporate law anti-corruption financial statute to the grand jury indictments of so many January 6 defendants? As our brief explains, “…prosecutors [] cast about for a crime with a heavy sentence with which to charge President Trump and his supporters. They landed on this obscure provision of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, enacted to address financial scandals associated with Enron and other companies…”  It is significant to note that until the January 6 cases came about, the DOJ, itself, interpreted Section 1512(c) as confined to acts of evidence impairment.

As explained in Mr. Fischer’s petition to the SCOTUS, the D.C. Court of Appeals vacated the district court’s dismissal and upheld the indictment despite “it having conceded that there was no precedent for applying Section 1512(c) to conduct unrelated to evidence impairment, and that such application was beyond Congress’ expressed purpose in amending that section.”

SCOTUS’s interpretation of 1512(c) could affect hundreds of prosecutions arising out of January 6, as well as the corrupt case levied against former President Donald Trump in the District of Columbia by Jack Smith.

“The malicious political persecutions of Americans by a weaponized DOJ must end,” said Mary O’Neill, Executive Director of America’s Future. “We are proud to support Mr. Fischer to protect our constitutional rights.  As we stated in our brief, the entire January 6 ‘insurrection narrative’ is a fabrication conjured up by those out to prosecute political opponents of the Biden regime.  SCOTUS now has the chance to make the right decision and put the Rule of Law back into place. We pray SCOTUS seizes this opportunity for the sake of our nation, all the J6 defendants and their families, and others still being hunted down by the DOJ for exercising their First Amendment rights. The future of America is in the balance.”

Tools Of Tyranny

Some of us once may have believed the advice given by graduation speakers that you can have anything you want and be anything we want to be — if only you want it badly enough.  But during our lifetimes we have learned that this advice (attributed to Abraham Lincoln) is an empty platitude.

The truth is that a small group of elites exercise disproportionate influence over our nation, often controlling governmental decision-making in ways that change how we live our lives.  While some of those elites want to be known and seek public office, others operate in the shadows like the “man behind the curtain.”  Whether we know their names or not, these elite individuals have proven that they are frequently able to impose their will on ordinary Americans.  There are many reasons offered for what motivates some people to seek these positions of control.

The truth is some elites are no better than criminals — and some ARE criminals.  One website has collected 492 instances of alleged and actual misconduct by Congressmen since 1789, including bribery, corruptions, sexual abuse, etc.  Since those in power are only rarely held accountable for their misdeeds, that is just the tip of the iceberg.

An explanation offered by public choice economists is that some elites realize it is easier to make money from the abuse of political power than making money in a competitive marketplace.  These people focus all their attention on gaining favors and financial benefits from government.  These elites succeed because they have a greater motivation to grab benefits (termed “rent-seeking”) than others have to resist them.  Financially empowered by government subsidies, these elites then have the means to repeat the process.

psychological explanation is that those in public office are narcissists who have such a deep need for public acclaim and power that they will sacrifice themselves and their families to gain office.  Narcissists care little about others and cannot be expected to prefer the public good to their personal good.

A spiritual analysis is that “God rules in the affairs of man.”  That phrase is a popular paraphrase of Daniel 4:17, which states: “the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.”  (Emphasis added.)  Many leave off the final words of that verse, as they are too upsetting.  Does God really put in charge of government “the basest of men.”  God’s word doesn’t need to be proven true, but there is plenty of historical and current evidence that this is the norm.  And, there are many reasons to believe that our nation, which repeatedly has rejected God, is now under His judgment.  However, even if we are under judgment, that does not diminish our responsibility to resist evil and stand for truth.

For whatever reason, the elites are doing quite well and usually get their way.  A 2014 study by professors at Northwestern and Princeton analyzed the relative influence of elites and ordinary Americans in decision making concluded:

  • Compared to economic elites, average voters have a low to nonexistent influence on public policies.
  • In cases where citizens obtained their desired policy outcome, it was in fact due to the influence of elites rather than the citizens themselves.
  • Regardless of whether a small minority or a large majority of American citizens support a policy, the probability of policy change is nearly the same.  [Emphasis added.]

Some years after that study, the key decisions made by our federal government reflect even less the views of most Americans.  Most Americans do not want the nation to leave its borders open to all comers.  Most Americans do not want Congress to spend money on endless wars.  Most Americans do not want the FBI to investigate Catholics attending Latin masses.  Most Americans do not want to prosecute nonviolent January 6 protestors.  Most Americans do not want the NSA to capture and review their emails, text messages, and phone calls.  Most Americans want to have the freedom to buy a gas stove and incandescent light bulbs.  So, how are the nation’s elites able to win so many battles — and how are they doing it?

To take the nation back from the dark forces that are now controlling it, first we need to understand HOW they are doing it.  What tools and techniques are our elites using to rule over the American people?

This is not the first time that Americans have needed to examine the tools of their controlling elites.  At the time of the American Revolution, the Declaration of Independence set out the practices which King George III had been using to suppress liberty in the colonies.  Among these abuses are that:  he has resisted the laws enacted by the colonies; he interfered with elections; he obstructed the administration of justice; and he sent “swarms of Officers to harass our people.”  Do any of those techniques sound familiar?  The past truly is prologue.

The Declaration of Independence made clear that Governments derive “their just powers from the consent of the governed.”  The American People have never consented to being ruled by elites that reject the God of the Bible, the Constitution of the Framers, and the will of the People.  Therefore, following the pattern set out in our Declaration of Independence, America’s Future, beginning today, is setting out to identify and expose the tools that modern-day tyrants are using to thwart our will and control us.  Stay tuned, as we together seek to lay the groundwork to restore the Republic that our Framers bequeathed to us.

House Votes To Open Formal Impeachment Inquiry Into President Biden
Impeach over American Flag

With a vote along party lines yesterday (Dec. 13, 2023), the Republican-led U.S. House of Representatives voted 221-212 to approve a resolution authorizing a formal impeachment inquiry into President Biden.

The resolution states “That the Committees on Oversight and Accountability, Ways and Means, and the Judiciary are directed to continue their ongoing investigations as part of the House of Representatives inquiry into whether sufficient grounds exist for the House of Representatives to exercise its Constitutional power to impeach Joseph Biden, President of the United States of America, including as set forth in the memorandum issued by the Chairs of the Committees on Oversight and Accountability, Ways and Means, and Judiciary of the House of Representatives, entitled “Impeachment Inquiry.”

Following the vote, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN), and House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY) released a joint statement calling the resolution “a critical step in our investigation into serious matters involving President Joe Biden by formally opening an impeachment inquiry. As President Biden continues to stonewall lawful Congressional subpoenas, today’s vote of the full House of Representatives authorizing the inquiry puts us in the strongest position to enforce these subpoenas in court.”

The statement went on to say, “We have seen witness testimony and bank records showing millions of dollars flowing to the Biden family from foreign adversaries. Witnesses have testified about the President’s numerous interactions with his family’s foreign clients. The President and White House have repeatedly misled the public, shifted the goalposts, and stonewalled our investigation.”

In remarks urging the House to pass the resolution, James Comer (R-KY), Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, who has been the lead lawmaker on the months-old informal probe regarding the Biden family, said, “We are now at a pivotal moment in our investigation. We will soon depose and interview several members of the Biden family and their associates about these influence peddling schemes. But we are facing obstruction from the White House. The White House is seeking to block key testimony from current and former White House staff. It is also withholding thousands of records from Joe Biden’s time as Vice President. President Biden must be held accountable for his lies, corruption, and obstruction. We have a duty to provide the accountability and transparency that Americans demand and deserve.”

Building Momentum To Get In The Fight
Get In The Fight Michigan Speakers

A combination of high energy, deep interest, and commitment to get involved set the tone of last weekend’s Get In The Fight Michigan summit and training, held at the Grace Christian Church in Sterling Heights. Attendees at the summit panel discussion on Dec. 8th and participants during the next day’s training programs gained knowledge and insight into the tragedy and crisis of child trafficking in Michigan and learned how to protect their children and help their communities.

“Awareness is the first step,” said Mary O’Neill, Executive Director of America’s Future. “But education is vital to mobilize citizens to take action to fight this war on children. We are grateful to all those who attended the summit and training programs in Michigan and confident that they will take what they learned to their communities and join us and all good people working to end this war on children.”

America’s Future Get In The Fight nationwide campaign was established to build a grassroots network of people across the country determined to help end child exploitation and trafficking in America. The initiative began in Florida in August and moved on to Michigan last weekend. Other state campaigns are scheduled to take place in 2024, including Illinois on January 26-27, Texas on February 23-24, Pennsylvania on May 17-18, and Ohio on June 14-15.  Additional states are currently in the planning stages. To watch a video of the Michigan summit presentations, please click here. To access the Get In The Fight multi-state schedule, please click here.

All of the campaigns are presented as part of America’s Future Project Defend & Protect Our Children (PDPC) and led by the PDPC Little Flower Advisory Board.
