IN FOCUS -The Great Replacement

Immigrants Walking

When Americans recognize that massive immigration from third world countries is changing American politics, leftists are incensed. Americans were not supposed to notice. And if we ever complain that the political power and economic resources of Americans is being eroded by illegal newcomers, we are accused of believing in “Replacement theory,” or “The Great Replacement.” Such Americans automatically are called: “racists,” “white supremacists,” and believers in a “right-wing conspiracy theory.”

But the truth is that there is a leftist strategy to undermine the America we know by overwhelming the nation with an influx of illegal aliens who have no commitment to our American heritage. These immigrants frequently gather in “ethnic enclaves” where they seek to preserve the language, culture, and traditions of their home country. Some come, waving their foreign flags, seeking to assist the “reconquista” of the Southwestern United States. They demonstrate the truth of the saying that “immigration without assimilation is invasion.”

Allowing waves of immigrants has vast political consequences. How Americans vote is significantly affected by their cultural, religious, and racial backgrounds. A 1969 book by Kevin Phillips, The Emerging Republican Majority, explained voting patterns and predicted that Republicans could take advantage of demographics to win political office. An obvious corollary is that as the population of a nation changes, so also does the politics of the nation.

During the Reagan and Bush years, it was Chamber of Commerce Republicans who wanted massive immigrations to drive down wages of workers. Democrats wanted to protect lower earning groups by restricting immigration. Leftist farm union organizer Cesar Chavez strongly opposed immigration to protect farm workers.

This political alignment shifted about the time that a book entitled The Emerging Democratic Majority was published in 2002, which showed that Democrats were studying demographics as well. This book explained to Democratic strategists how massive immigration could change the politics of the nation in their favor. This was also the time that the “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” movement spread off campuses to infect politics. For the last two decades, every Democrat or Rhino incumbent or candidate has understood that when the borders are opened to those from all over the world, America will be filled with people dependent on government and for whom totalitarian rule has been the norm.

On October 30, 2008, Barack Obama audaciously stated: “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.” Obama lectured the nation that our immigration system is broken; that nothing can be done until we have “comprehensive immigration reform.” He wanted to bring undocumented immigrants (he refused to say “illegal aliens”) “out of the shadows,” grant amnesty, and provide a path to citizenship.

Americans were told, “diversity is our strength,” but the truth is that the kind of immigration we have had makes every problem the nation faces worse. No problems (not health, education, drugs, crime, spending, etc.) can be solved when a nation has a combination of a welfare state to attract immigrants seeking free services and open borders to let them in. Immigration upset Americans, but neither party did much to protect the border until that day in June 2015, when Donald and Melania Trump rode down the escalator at Trump Tower to deliver his announcement speech, declaring:

The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems…  When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best…. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems…. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime.

Every politician entrusted with political office has two goals:  first, get re-elected, and second, move up the ladder.  But most of our ruling class has alienated American voters by spying on us, stealing our freedoms, inflating our currency, and embroiling us in foreign wars.

Question:  how could unpopular, leftist politicians in both parties stay in power?

Answer:  change the nature of the electorate.

The plan is being implemented to overwhelm those Americans who built this nation with an influx of Third World immigrants — people who do not share our language, our culture, or our traditions.  Those immigrants will be loyal to those politicians who let them into America, and those who provide housing, food and healthcare.  They are not familiar with living in a free state, so when they are controlled, they will neither notice, nor care, nor be willing to resist the ruling class.

This is not just happening in America.  In 2017, Britain’s Douglas Murray wrote a book entitled The Strange Death of Europe.  “Europe is committing suicide.  Or at least its leaders have decided to commit suicide,” the book begins.  In thoroughly documented detail, Murray shows how massive immigration, mostly from Islamic countries, has dovetailed with native Europeans’ rejection of Christianity and the cultural values of liberty and individual rights it bequeathed to Europe, to destroy those values.

In 1989, President Reagan gave his farewell address to the nation from the Oval Office.  He remembered that in his youth students “were taught, very directly, what it means to be an American.  And we absorbed, almost in the air a love of country and an appreciation of its institutions.”  But he sternly warned:

If we forget what we did, we won’t know who we are.  I’m warning of an eradication of the American memory that could result, ultimately, in an erosion of the American spirit.  (Emphasis added.)

Open borders are not the American way.  Our Founding Fathers recognized the danger we face. Madison believed that “those who acquire the rights of citizenship, without adding to the strength or wealth of the community are not the people we are in want of,” and that America should exclude the alien who could not readily “incorporate himself into our society.”  Hamilton wrote:  “The safety of a republic depends essentially on the energy of a common national sentiment; on a uniformity of principles and habits; on the exemption of the citizens from foreign bias and prejudice; and on … love of country….”

But there is reason for hope.  Leftists shifted their position against immigration to support open borders in service to their new religion of “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.”  Leftists took the position that foreigners are better than Americans.  And, in pursuit of their new religion, leftists abandoned the interests of their own historic voting constituencies who had the most to lose from immigrants who would gladly take their jobs at half the salary.  These leftists assumed they had the Black and Hispanic vote in their pocket — where else would they go?   But Blacks and Hispanics are coming to realize that they have been sold out.  This trend began to appear in the 2020 election, when voters in deeply Latino districts along the Texas-Mexico border began to change how they voted.

Yes, we are in the middle of a Great Replacement — but the final chapter has not been written.  It just may be that historic political divisions are melting away, and all Americans who share the values of our country will join together to preserve our American Republic.
